Hi, I am
Miss Antonia Gerontati
Educational Chair
I am the Trust Lead for Advanced Practice and Non-Medical Prescribing at Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, and the first Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) in the UK. I provide strategic leadership across two hospitals, overseeing more than 120 Advanced and Consultant Practitioners, leading professional governance, workforce development, and the delivery of safe, patient-centred care.
With over twelve years of NHS experience, I currently support Advanced Practitioners across 30 services, shaping governance structures and leading service improvement initiatives. I also serve as an Instructor in Surgical Skills for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and as Educational Chair for the Association of Cardiothoracic SCPs (ACTSCP), where I help drive educational excellence.
Academically, I hold three postgraduate degrees: an MSc in Perioperative Medicine (UCL), an MSc in Health Informatics, and an PGDip in Surgical Care Practice. I am also an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at UCL and currently pursuing a Professional Doctorate in Advanced Practice. My doctoral research focuses on validating a novel intraoperative scoring system I developed for vein graft quality assessment designed to standardise evaluation and improve surgical outcomes.
I am passionate about building the future of Advanced Practice through robust governance, clear development pathways, and research-rich environments that empower Advanced Practitioners to become the next generation of clinical leaders and academics.
